Alda Amendola: Photographs and Nancy Olivier: Paintings
Alda Amendola & Nancy Olivier
November 21 - December 9, 1989
ALDA AMENDOLA'S images are the result of interplays of light produced by assemblages and by a hand-guided reflecting medium. Unlike ordinary photography, which is of something such as it exists, this photography can be called metaphotography.
The spiral, a symbol common to most cosmological systems, is NANCY OLIVIER'S basic form. Occurring in the natural world in places as diverse as the paths of split atomic particles and galaxies, Ms. Olivier uses the spiral as a metaphor for the cycle of birth. death and rebirth, growth, and the spirit.
