Incorporating the work of women from all over the country and abroad, A woman’s work is never done focuses on the alert and critical artistic approach of the diverse group of women that form the national/ international membership at A.I.R. European curator Susanne Altmann focuses her selection on the human figure and representation, as well as a number of works which feature a fascination for abstraction or hover on the border between abstraction and representation. Poetry and precision of craft, cultural history/criticism and the natural world are themes that interweave throughout the exhibition. As the title suggests, these artists skillfully blend the personally meaningful with a close and objective eye toward cultural observation.
