Stagings
Kim Waale
June 2 - 20th, 1998
Kim Waale's art has focused on the role of the past in the creative process: the phenomenon of biographical memory and the invention and fictionalizing of personal histories. Stagings evolved out of a series of works addressing adult memories of adolescence, especially as they pertain to the bedroom. With mechanized ventriloquist dummies, highly magnified photographs of adults re-enacting adolescent fantasies, and typed text, the installation plays with artifice — juxtaposing supposedly accurate truthful memories with melodramatic images.
Reception: Tuesday, June 2, 6-8pm
