With her recent paintings on paper and wood, Madeline Weinrib continues to explore organic abstraction, utilizing the circle as a point of departure. Painted with gestural vigor, Weinrib's organic forms have a raw and vital energy. The circular forms retain ambiguity even as they draw reference to the natural world: the flapping wings of an insect, a vine of climbing ivy, an organism pulsing under a microscope. All emerge from Weinrib's abstractions with the pulsing exuberance of life.
