FROM THE ARCHIVES: A Composite Portrait: A.I.R. and the Women's Art Movement
Curated by Alissa Schoenfeld, Dena Muller, & Eunhee Yang
January 2 - 18, 1997
This historic show featured documents such as exhibition announcements, original correspondence in which ideas for the organization were formulated, posters of programs and performances, the “rip off file” which records sexual discrimination against women artists, and photographs of meetings and receptions. These details combine to create a portrait bearing resemblance to the activism, regrouping, and rethinking, which has characterized the women’s movement since the 1960s.
