Joy Ride, Hell Ride, or Time For Jesus

In this new series of colored pencil drawings, she incorporates images of children wrestling animals, overgrown men strumming guitars in bed, and various pets falling onto ecstatic passersby. One can almost imagine her getting a stunning charge from these various incongruities of modern life, while fleshing out her visions much as an alchemist combines various elements in order to make new and alien what was previously common and familiar. The evocative tension that inhabits these drawings is subtle and ominous in their renderings while the release rests in the dark humor and wit that underlies the situations she has arranged with the deft sense of a set designer. The impressions these drawings make are lasting and profound.
