Chromophore highlights the developments in Snitzer’s work over the last two years. In these new paintings, Snitzer looks back at the painted subjects of 20th century abstraction to explore how they can function in a contemporary context. This working method is a continuation of Snitzer's ongoing pursuit to express the poetic and dynamic relationship between our histories and our current visual surroundings. The non-representational imagery of Chromophore enacts a form of “freedom," and “illegibility” is Snitzer's response to media’s claims of “reality” versus “fiction.”
