MUTUAL AID TO THE ONGOING PROTESTS IN IRAN:
DISCO TEHRAN
WOMEN: LIFE: FREEDOM
Since the death of Mahsa Amini in September, Iranians have been protesting for basic human rights. Mahsa Amini was killed by the Islamic Republic’s morality police for allegedly violating the country’s compulsory hijab law. Her death has resulted in a massive women’s uprising in Iran, which ultimately calls for the dismantling and elimination of the Islamic Republic. These protests have truly been revolutionary, but they need support from the global community. The Centre for Human Rights in Iran has reported that over 484 Iranians have been killed by the government in these protests. As part of my community project for my fellowship at A.I.R. Gallery, I have worked with Disco Tehran and A.I.R. staff to establish a mutual aid on the gallery page that goes directly to Disco Tehran’s VPN project. The project helps Iranians bypass the severe internet restrictions and filtrations imposed by the government. Their effort is to make sure that the people stay connected with each other and the world. This project is truly an invaluable asset at this time for Iranians. Disco Tehran will also be donating proceeds from their upcoming End of Year concerts and Cinema Tehran screenings to the VPN project. Please be sure to get your tickets and invite friends!!!
