Aya Rodriguez-Izumi, Language Lesson, 2025, video, still.
Saturday, March 15 from 5–8 PM
A.I.R. Gallery (155 Plymouth Street)
Join us on Saturday, March 15 from 5–8 PM for an exhibition remix held in conjunction with the solo exhibition Traces of the Last Battle by Aya Rodriguez-Izumi.
5:00 PM: The program will begin with a vinyl listening, reading, and Uchinaaguchi language study group in which we will explore chapter 2 of Okinawa’s Tragedy and its translations together.
6:00 PM: A walkthrough of the exhibition with artist Aya Rodriguez-Izumi. This causal conversation will serve as a mapping between a constellation of ideas presented in the exhibition.
7:00 PM: A live audiovisual exhibition remix by Drone Sighting, a sound and video project comprised of Javier María and Douglas Paulson. Experience this collaboration in Drone Sighting’s inaugural live performance as they dismantle and glitch elements of the exhibition.
THROUGHOUT: Limited edition home-brewed kombucha with flavors inspired by the exhibition from Rodriguez-Izumi’s collaborative project with Paulson, “Scoby Club,” will also be available for sample.
The full closing program is free and open to the public.
