In conjunction with her exhibition More-than-Self-Defense, 2023–2024 Fellow Mimi Biyao Bai will be delivering a hybrid artist talk and screening of excerpts from various action and kung fu films that have influenced the work in the exhibition. Each segment will engage with different film tropes, such as the “good guy with a gun” or the “gearing up sequence,” where the hero gets armed with, as Keanu Reeves says in The Matrix, “guns, lots of guns.”

Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.

Space is limited. To RSVP, click here.
