Artist Statement
I am a research-based artist interested in surfacing invisible and suppressed histories and constructing new narratives where there has been erasure. How can the past inform the present? How can the past be restaged, reframed, and recontextualized to bring insight and complexity to the present moment? Interviews, documents, and historical events are points of departure for works that investigate the spaces between presence and absence, visibility and invisibility, and the personal and collective, within the context of traumatic histories. My work is multidisciplinary but often takes the form of video, performance, installation, and public engagement.
