Artist Statement
My work takes many forms but research questions remain consistent: are my material choices ecologically responsible? How can I respond to site through architecture, history, economic structures, or current conditions of our time? How can I shift modes of production to avoid commodification? Can I speak truth to power, fight for equality, and still have beauty? Can one seek utopia in the Anthropocene? Installations combine sculpture, sound, video, painting, and drawing. I use repetitive forms, provisional materials, and ephemeral gestures. My ideas are influenced by Situationism, Conceptual art, feminist and queer theory. I'm inspired by things like dazzle ships, sinkholes, and oil pipelines.
