Recent Sculpture
Elisabeth Munro Smith

October 9 – 27, 1990

Elisabeth Munro Smith’s recent work is constructed of metal mesh (copper, aluminum, or galvanized steel hardware cloth) sewn together with steel wire. Their scrim-like transparency creates a hollow shell or skin that suggests the absent figure. The shapes derive from a combination of architectural structure and organic fragments that relate ultimately to the human body.
