Erica Stoller’s exhibition, Outcropping, repurposes industrial cardboard, which is sliced, bent, and glued to make wall-mounted units in a variable configuration that refers to strata of glacial rock formations. While the original shape and purpose of the containers has been lost, clues remain about the origin and manufacture of the cardboard itself and about the objects that were stored and transported in the boxes.

The purpose of the installation was never to transform the material into a permanent or precious state, but rather to borrow it for a while and, in the process, consider the source, the purpose, and then return it to the stream.

To complete this cycle/recycle, on the last afternoon of the exhibition, Sunday, November 10, at 4pm, the artist invites visitors to help take apart the installation and disassemble the pieces. The cardboard will be flattened, baled, and prepared for recycling.
