Régine Romain

Régine Romain is a visionary Haitian-American artist. She is the founder and director of the Urban PhotoPoets, Brooklyn Photo Salon, and the Brooklyn to Benin projects.
As a photo-anthro-journalist, her sojourns are rootical expeditions, most often pilgrimages, exploring indigenous intelligence, languages, proverbs, music, dance, sustainable natural living, ritual and spiritual practices throughout the African diaspora. Portraits for Self Determining Haiti, Romain's photographs of Haïti after the devastating 7.0 earthquake, was featured at A.I.R. Gallery as her
first solo exhibition asa 2011-2012 Fellow. Images from this exhibition are in the permanent collection at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York and are highlighted in a photo essay in Meridians Vol 11, Dec 2011, an academic journal published by Smith College. Her work has been displayed at the Teatro Nacional de Cuba, Cuba; UN Photography Society, NY; and the Charles Sumner Museum, DC.
