In her third solo exhibition at A.I.R. Gallery titled, What Was What Is, Ivy Dachman shows abstract paintings constructed of charcoal, oil and wax on canvas, as well as a series of small gouaches on board. In these works, poetic relationships are achieved by the mysterious employment of abstraction that is not easily referenced to traditional compositional models or figure ground relationships.
