Seeking Level

A.I.R. Gallery is pleased to announce a new installation of sculpture entitled Seeking Level by Julia Shepley. The opening reception will be held November 9, 2006 from 6pm to 8pm.

Spilling across the gallery wall, cast glass water-droplets form trails of knotted black and white cord anchored by oversized rippling glass “buttons.” The result is a three dimensional choreographed drawing incorporating light and shadow. Adjacent are two framed boxes, which catch light to reveal layers of images. In other new work, black laminate and wood “shadows” strung between large cast glass buttons imply a human presence stripped of all but fastenings and shadows left by folds of fabric.
