Screening: "All We've Got" directed by Alexis Clements
July 29, 2020, 6PM
On Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 6 PM, A.I.R. Gallery is proud to feature a Q&A with Alexis Clements, director of All We’ve Got. The film takes viewers on a far-flung journey through American herstory and resilience to explore the LGBTQI women’s communities, cultures, and social justice work through the lens of the physical spaces—from bars to bookstores and arts and political hubs—they create.
Since 2010, over 100 queer women’s spaces have shuttered across the United States. As concern grows over the death and dearth of these essential social hubs, this documentary takes inventory of those that continue to thrive across the country, inciting a powerful conversation about the importance of the community.
From a lesbian bar in Oklahoma City to the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center in San Antonio run by queer Latinas or the WOW Café Theatre in New York City, this film takes us into the diverse and inclusive LGBTQI spaces and shines a light on why having a place to gather matters. Ultimately, All We’ve Got is a celebration of the herstory and resilience of the queer women, who are tirelessly making a room for one another on the front line of LGBTQI activism. It is also a call to action to continually build a stronger future for all communities.
This event will take place online and will be recorded.
View the film online here, accessible through midnight on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
